Contemporary dance has no generally binding dance technique, but a mixture of different dance forms - from classical up to the modern dance - and body work such as Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technik, Pilates or energy work.
A significant component is the release technique with which the movement occurs from relaxation. A central aspect is the investigation of one’s own movement which is not aimed toward an external form but originates from an internal movement impulse. The individual mixture of the various elements depends on the personal experience and artistic objective of the teacher / choreographer.
