JAZZ

"Dance is the timeless interpretation of life."

With the jazz dance the portion of the single elements is different according to the school or interpreters and more or less mixed with elements of the modern dance, the classical and contemporary dance, as well as the Hip Hop.

Like jazz music the jazz dance also comes from the Afro American national culture of the USA. Its typical signs of the polycentric isolation technique stand in contrast to the whole body technique of the classical ballet. In jazz dance all those bodily parts which are not activated in European dance at all, are moved independently of each other: the head with neck, shoulders, chest, pelvis, arms and legs. In addition every bodily part has its own, independent tension field and movement centre from the remaining body. With the jazz dance the portion of the single elements is different according to the school or interpreters and more or less mixed with elements of the modern dance, the classical and contemporary dance, as well as Hip Hop.
